I am a Professor of Philosophy in the

Philosophy Faculty at Oxford University and

a Tutorial Fellow at Mansfield College,
Oxford
.

My main area of research is 17th C Philosophy,

particularly the work of G. W. Leibniz. But
I have interests in many other areas of
philosophy.

As someone with a Bipolar Disorder diagnosis, I have recently been exploring

issues in philosophy of psychiatry and in 2020 a semi-popular

piece, 'What Is It Like to Be Manic?'

My philosophical interests and musical interests combine in the shape of my ongoing project Cantat Ergo Sumus
